Dariush

**Dariush Eghbali**, often known simply as Dariush, is a legendary Iranian singer and songwriter born on February 4, 1951, in Tehran. He began showing his musical talent at the age of nine and was introduced to the public by Hassan Khayatbashi on Iranian national television at age twenty. Dariush quickly rose to fame with his iconic song "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," which helped open a new era in Iranian music. His powerful voice and emotionally charged performances blend Persian pop with traditional and fusion elements, often carrying themes of love, freedom, justice, and social activism. He has collaborated with renowned poets and musicians, making him an enduring cultural icon beloved by millions in Iran and the diaspora.

Dariush's career was marked by his fearless critique of political repression, which led to his imprisonment before the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Following the revolution, he relocated to the United States, continuing his artistic work and expanding his role as a humanitarian and social advocate. He founded the Ayeneh Foundation, supporting those affected by addiction and other social issues. Dariush remains a powerful voice in Persian music, with a rich catalog of over 200 songs spread across more than 25 albums, plus a presence in Iranian cinema. His concerts have drawn enthusiastic audiences worldwide, including venues like Carnegie Hall and Wembley.
