Naked Eyes

Naked Eyes is a British synth-pop duo best known for their catchy, electronic sound and a string of hits in the early 1980s. The group was formed by Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher, who originally played together in a band called Neon—alongside future members of Tears for Fears—before branching off to create Naked Eyes. They burst onto the scene with their memorable 1983 cover of “Always Something There to Remind Me,” a Burt Bacharach and Hal David classic, which became a major hit in both the UK and US.

Following the success of that single, Naked Eyes continued to make waves with other tracks like “Promises, Promises” and “When the Lights Go Out,” becoming a staple of early MTV and new wave radio playlists. Their first album, Burning Bridges, was packed with richly layered synths and catchy melodies, helping to define the sound of a generation. Though they initially disbanded after their second album, Fuel for the Fire, Pete Byrne later revived the Naked Eyes name for live performances and new recordings. Sadly, Rob Fisher passed away in 1999, but the legacy of their synth-pop innovation lives on.
