Danity Kane is an American girl group that emerged from the MTV reality show "Making the Band 3," which was created by the famed music mogul Diddy (Sean Combs) in 2005. The original lineup consisted of Dawn Richard, Aubrey O'Day, Aundrea Fimbres, Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgett, and Shannon Bex. The group's name was taken from a female anime character created by Richard during her audition. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2006, saw instant success, entering the Billboard 200 at number one, propelled by their hit single "Show Stopper." Their follow-up album, "Welcome to the Dollhouse," also topped the charts and included the popular track "Damaged."
Despite their initial success, Danity Kane faced several lineup changes and disbandments over the years. The group officially split in 2009, but in 2013, four of the original members—excluding D. Woods—reunited and began working on new music. Their third album, "DK3," was released in 2014, amidst a second disbandment due to internal conflicts, notably leaving only three members — Richard, O'Day, and Bex — to complete the album's promotion. Over the years, the group has occasionally reformed in various configurations to release new tracks and perform, including singles like "Lemonade (feat. Tyga)," exhibiting their resilient presence in the music industry despite the challenges they've faced.
