Armando Moreno, born Armando Bassi on May 29, 1921, in Argentina, was a renowned tango singer. He began his career at the age of 18, joining the orchestra of bandoneonist Enrique Rodríguez to replace singer Roberto Flores. Moreno quickly became known for his distinctive voice and style, earning the nickname "El Niño" due to his youthful appearance. He made his debut on Radio Belgrano and soon released his first recordings, including the tango "No te quiero más" and the polka "María." Throughout his career, Moreno collaborated with several orchestras, including those of Enrique Rodríguez, Alfredo Attadía, and Domingo Federico, recording numerous tangos and other pieces. He was particularly successful with Rodríguez's orchestra, where he became an iconic voice. Moreno continued to perform until his later years, eventually settling in Colombia, where he passed away on October 8, 1990, at the age of 69.
The recent releases listed, such as "La Semana Es Corta (Remastered)" and several tracks from "Zorzales de Antaño," suggest a compilation or reissue of his work, but these do not reflect new material from Armando Moreno himself, as he passed away decades ago. These releases likely highlight his enduring legacy in tango music.
