Lustmord

Lustmord is the pioneering dark ambient project of Welsh composer and sound designer Brian Williams. Since the early 1980s, Lustmord has been instrumental in shaping the dark ambient genre, blending unsettling field recordings, deep drones, and atmospheric textures to create immersive sonic environments. Emerging from the early industrial and experimental scenes, including collaborations with groups like SPK and Coil, Williams developed a signature style that often explores themes of mysticism, cosmology, and the subconscious.

Lustmord’s work stretches across a wide range of artistic disciplines, including film sound design, video game scores, and art installations. His 1990 release Heresy is frequently cited as a landmark in ambient music, and he has continued to remain relevant and influential, with recent projects like The Others (Lustmord Deconstructed) showcasing reinterpretations of his work by artists across genres.
