Kuul Surre, whose real name is Addisalem Tibebe, is an Ethiopian musician from the Borena zone of Oromia. Born and raised in Arero, he developed a passion for music early on, inspired by local artists like Kedir Martu. Kuul Surre pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from Dire Dawa University Institute of Technology before moving to Addis Abeba, where he began to seriously pursue his music career. His stage name is a tribute to his grandmother, who often called him "Kuul" due to the color of his eyes.
Kuul Surre's music is known for blending traditional Borana cultural elements with modern styles. He has released several notable tracks and an EP, highlighting his unique approach to Ethiopian music. Some of his recent releases include "Mardaadii" and "Algaga," the latter inspired by a traditional cultural game he played as a child. His work has been recognized with awards, including Album of the Year. Kuul Surre continues to innovate and push the boundaries of Ethiopian music, drawing both local and international attention to his artistry.
