Gregor Meyer

Gregor Meyer is a talented German choral conductor, organist, and arranger born in 1979 in Zwickau, Saxony. He kicked off his musical journey by teaching himself organ on the Kreutzbach organ in Johanngeorgenstadt, then studied church music and choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig, graduating in 2007 under mentors like Arvid Gast, Martin Schmeding, and Morten Schuldt-Jensen.

In 1999, he founded the Leipzig Vocal Consort (leading it until 2017) and later launched soloist ensembles like Concerto Sacro, Opella Musica, and worked with Ensemble 1684 on Johann Rosenmüller repertoire. Since 2007, he's been director of the GewandhausChor in Leipzig, collaborating with big names like Riccardo Chailly and Herbert Blomstedt, and programming fresh takes on classics—including his acclaimed arrangement of Schubert's **Winterreise** for baritone, choir, and accordions. A busy continuo organist and arranger for groups like Calmus Ensemble, he's recorded on labels like Naxos, Rondeau, and GENUIN, tackling projects from Buxtehude's *Membra Jesu Nostri* to Reinecke and Bach organ works, with concerts spanning Europe, China, and New Zealand.
