Kurt Carr is an influential figure in the gospel music scene, renowned for his exceptional talent as a composer, arranger, and choir director. Carr was born on October 12, 1964, in Hartford, Connecticut, and he began his musical journey at a very young age. His passion for gospel music was evident, and it ultimately led him to study at the University of Connecticut, where he honed his skills in classical music and developed a deep understanding of musical theory which would later inform his unique gospel arrangements.

Carr's career took a significant turn when he became the musical director for the West Angeles Church of God in Christ Choir, where he started to make formidable impressions in the gospel community.
