Kanon Matsuda

Kanon Matsuda is a highly accomplished Japanese classical pianist from Takamatsu, Japan, who began her piano training at the tender age of four. Demonstrating exceptional talent early on, she studied under Professor Yoshiko Hosoda before moving to Russia, where she attended the Gnessin Secondary Special Music School under Professor Elena Ivanova. Throughout her youth, Matsuda won numerous prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in memory of Grieg (2004) and the Golden Nutcracker award at the 7th International Television Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow (2006). She continued her advanced studies at the Moscow State Conservatory on a special scholarship, graduating from graduate school in 2021.

Matsuda is celebrated for her expressive and emotive playing, which breathes life into classical masterpieces ranging from Tchaikovsky and Liszt to Mussorgsky, including a notable performance of Mussorgsky’s *Pictures at an Exhibition*. She has collaborated with leading orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra and performed under renowned conductors like Valery Gergiev and Mikhail Pletnev. Her international presence includes acclaimed performances and several recordings with respected labels since her debut in 2014. Known for her delicate touch and exceptional ability to fuse classical tradition with fresh modern sensitivity, Kanon Matsuda continues to enchant listeners worldwide with her artistry.
