KEN Mode

KEN Mode is a Canadian noise rock and hardcore punk outfit, hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band was formed in 1999 by brothers Jesse (guitar/vocals) and Shane Matthewson (drums), with bassist Darryl Laxdal rounding out the original lineup, though the bass position would see various changes over the years. The band's name is an acronym for "Kill Everyone Now Mode," a term derived from the noise rock band Swans, encapsulating their intense, aggressive sound and live performances. KEN Mode's music is characterized by its fusion of metal’s weight and hardcore punk's raw energy, combined with a distinctive noise rock dissonance and complex arrangements.

Over the years, KEN Mode has earned critical acclaim for their relentless sonic assault and thought-provoking lyrics, often grappling with themes of frustration, existential dread, and societal critique. They have become a notable force in the underground metal and punk scenes. Their discography has grown with each release to include a sprawling catalog of full-length albums, EPs, and singles. Among their more recent efforts are the widely acclaimed album "Loved" (2018) and a series of singles such as "VOID," "These Wires," and "Doesn't Feel Pain Like He Should," further cementing their reputation for delivering raw, uncompromising music that defies easy categorization. With over two decades of innovation and ferocity, KEN Mode continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of sonic extremity and artistic integrity.
