Edwin Hawkins
Edwin Hawkins, a legendary gospel singer and pianist, is best known for his iconic 1969 hit "Oh Happy Day." Born in Oakland, California, Hawkins began singing in church at a young age and later formed the Edwin Hawkins Singers. Their soulful and uplifting music, rooted in the African-American church tradition, has inspired generations of gospel and R&B artists. Hawkins' powerful vocals and innovative arrangements have earned him numerous awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
