Shock Therapy

Shock Therapy was an eclectic and often enigmatic band that delved into the realms of post-punk, gothic rock, and electronic throughout their career. Formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1982 by Itchy (Keith) Kozan, the primary composer and vocalist, the band became known for their passionate and intense live performances as well as their thought-provoking and emotionally charged lyrics. Despite undergoing numerous lineup changes, with Itchy being the sole constant member until his untimely death in 2008, Shock Therapy persevered through the years, crafting a distinct sound that often defied easy categorization.

With a discography marked by a blend of dark, synth-driven melodies and raw, expressive vocals, Shock Therapy's music has explored themes of psychological turmoil, existential angst, and a critique of societal norms. Their tracks "Gothic Song" and "I Hate People" capture the essence of the band's attitudes towards the darker aspects of human experience and social discontent, respectively. The band has maintained a cult following over the years, and their works, such as "Love And Punishment" and "The Golden Calf", demonstrate their capability to evolve stylistically while staying true to their emotive and distinctive sonic identity.
