Le Concert Spirituel

Le Concert Spirituel is a renowned French early music ensemble, specializing in the performance of Baroque music on period instruments. Founded in 1987 by harpsichordist and conductor Hervé Niquet, the group is named after the 18th-century concert series held in Paris at the Sainte-Chapelle. Since its inception, Le Concert Spirituel has garnered critical acclaim for its vibrant and historically informed performances, which often shed light on lesser-known works and composers of the Baroque era.

The ensemble's repertoire spans a diverse range of European Baroque music, as evidenced by its recordings of Charpentier's "Messe pour Monsieur Mauroy," Handel's "Coronation Anthems," and Lully's "Armide 1778." Le Concert Spirituel is equally at home with grand theatrical works, having produced acclaimed recordings of operatic and dramatic pieces like "Médée" and "Ariane et Bacchus," while also venturing into choral and chamber music with the likes of Boismortier's "Daphnis et Chloé" and Vivaldi's "Gloria & Magnificat." Known for their meticulous research and energetic execution, Le Concert Spirituel continues to captivate audiences worldwide with their performances both in live concert settings and through their extensive discography.
