Lord Creator

Lord Creator was a Trinidadian-born singer and songwriter who became a significant figure in Jamaican music during the 1950s and 1960s. Born Kentrick Patrick, he moved to Jamaica where he became known for his smooth vocals and his role in shaping the early ska and rocksteady scenes. His music blended calypso, R&B, and early reggae influences, and he's perhaps best known for the track "Independent Jamaica," which was released in 1962 to celebrate the country’s independence. That song, notably, was one of the early releases on Island Records—helping to put both the artist and the label on the map.

Another of his standout songs, "Big Bamboo," showcased his calypso roots and humorous lyricism, while tracks like "Golden Love" and the album Jamaica Time demonstrated his versatility across genres. Lord Creator's contribution to the evolution of Caribbean music has been widely recognized, and his legacy continues to influence reggae and ska artists around the world.
