Stezo

Stezo, born Stephen Jerome Williams in New Haven, Connecticut, was a dynamic rapper, producer, and dancer best known for his 1989 debut album *Crazy Noise*. He first entered the hip-hop scene as a dancer for the influential group EPMD, notably appearing in their "You Gots to Chill" music video. After impressing with his dance skills and natural flair, he launched his solo career, bringing a fresh, funky sound that combined lively beats with smooth, confident rapping. His track "It's My Turn," built on the iconic Skull Snaps breakbeat, became a classic, influencing many artists and samples in hip-hop thereafter. Despite some gaps in his releases, Stezo dropped several albums over the years, including *Where's the Funk At* (1997) and *C.T. (The Lost State)* (2005), paying homage to his Connecticut roots.

Stezo was respected both for his creativity and his pioneering contributions to East Coast hip-hop during its golden era. His distinct style made "Steve Martin" a memorable dance move and helped put Connecticut hip-hop on the map. Sadly, he passed away in 2020 at the age of 52 due to heart complications. His work remains influential, celebrated by peers and fans alike for its originality and impact during a highly competitive period in hip-hop history.
