Alphons von Aarburg

Alphons von Aarburg was a Swiss chorus master, born in 1938 in Kaltbrunn, Switzerland. He is best known as the founder and long-time director of the Zürcher Sängerknaben (Zurich Boys' Choir), which he established in 1960. Under his leadership, the choir gained international recognition, collaborating with renowned conductors such as Herbert von Karajan and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Alphons von Aarburg was also a respected music educator, serving as a head music teacher at a teachers' training college for many years. He passed away in 2023, leaving behind a legacy in the world of choral music.
