Cheese People

Cheese People is a Russian disco-punk band from Samara, formed in 2003 or 2004. The band initially started with Anton Zalygin and Yury Momsin, but Yury left soon after the release of their debut album. They were joined by Olga Chubarova, who brought a unique vocal style and introduced the band to English-language funk and disco-punk. The band gained popularity across Russia and abroad, known for their catchy melodies and energetic live performances. They have performed at significant festivals like the Mint Music Festival and Afisha Picnic Festival, and have been recognized for their contributions to the Russian music scene.

Cheese People's music is characterized by its distinctive blend of disco and punk elements, often compared to bands like Cansei de Ser Sexy and Datarock. Despite their indie roots, they have achieved international recognition, including a Japanese edition of their debut CD with a bonus remix. The band has continued to evolve, with line-up changes over the years, but Olga Chubarova remains a central figure. In recent years, they have maintained a strong presence in the Russian music scene and have garnered international attention. Their most recent releases include "Вампиры," "Контрданс," and "Dark Ages Remixes," showcasing their continued creativity and innovation in the music industry.
