Dmitri Kitayenko is a renowned Russian conductor, celebrated for his masterful interpretations of the Russian symphonic repertoire. Born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in 1940, he studied at several prestigious institutions, including the Gnessin State Musical College, the Moscow Conservatory, and the Leningrad Conservatory. Kitayenko rose to prominence during his tenure as music director of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held from 1976 to 1990, earning widespread acclaim for his dynamic leadership and insightful performances.
