Irish Women in Harmony is a collective of female Irish musicians and singers that was first formed in 2020. The group was organized by renowned Irish singer-songwriter RuthAnne, who brought together a multitude of talent from across the nation to create a powerful and uplifting single entitled "Dreams". The song, originally by The Cranberries, was reimagined as a charity single to support the work of Safe Ireland, an organization dedicated to ending domestic abuse and coercive control. The record featured vocal contributions from over three dozen women, encompassing well-known artists such as Andrea Corr and Imelda May, along with many others across various genres, highlighting the richness and diversity of Irish female artistry.
The success of "Dreams" paved the way for further collaborative projects. With their singular voice, Irish Women in Harmony released a festive single titled "Together at Christmas" in late 2020. Continuing their tradition of solidarity and poignant storytelling, they also shared the song "Only a Woman" in 2021. Their music showcases not just the ensemble’s commitment to supporting social causes, but also their collective effort to shine a spotlight on the immense and often underrepresented female talent within the Irish music scene. These releases underline the group's passion for unity and empowerment, striking a chord with audiences both in Ireland and internationally. Each project by Irish Women in Harmony serves as a showcase of strength and creativity, making them a unique and inspiring force in the contemporary music landscape.
