Erik van Nevel is a Belgian conductor and musicologist specializing in early music. He is the founder and artistic director of the Huelgas Ensemble, which he established in 1971. Van Nevel is known for his research and performances of medieval and Renaissance music, and has recorded extensively with the Huelgas Ensemble. He has also written several books on early music, including "The Renaissance: A Capella Music" and "The Motet in the 16th Century."
