Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya

Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya is a Russian-born harpsichordist, organist, fortepianist, and pianist who has made a significant mark in the world of early and classical keyboard music. Born in Moscow in 1986, she began her musical studies at the Gnesin School of Music and went on to study at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Olga Martynova’s class. Alexandra’s training also brought her to Amsterdam and Munich, broadening her expertise on both piano and historical keyboard instruments.

She’s just as at home performing solo recitals as she is collaborating with top chamber musicians, and her discography showcases both—ranging from Baroque gems by Geminiani and Muffat to Classical-era works by Mozart, all performed on period-appropriate instruments. With violinist Igor Ruhadze, she’s released acclaimed albums of Boccherini’s and Geminiani’s complete violin sonatas, and as Duo Pleyel (with Richard Egarr), she explores the rich repertoire of piano four-hands music, from early Romantic composers to 20th-century masters, often on historic instruments. Alexandra’s playing is noted for its energy, expressiveness, and deep engagement with the musical text, making her a standout musician for listeners who love discovering the nuances of early music brought vividly to life.
