Aida Nadeem

Aida Nadeem is an Iraqi musician born in Baghdad in 1965. She grew up in the vibrant city, where her interest in music began at a young age. Aida started singing, dancing, and writing poetry, eventually enrolling in the Music and Ballet school in Baghdad at the age of 12, where she studied the bassoon. Her early influences included classical composers like Karlheinz Stockhausen and Arthur Honegger. In 1986, she joined Iraq's symphony orchestra. After moving to Denmark in 1991, Aida continued her studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. She gained recognition for her unique fusion of styles, particularly with her debut album *Arabian Underground*.

Aida Nadeem is known for her distinctive blend of world music and avant-garde sounds, deeply rooted in her Arabic heritage. She has performed at notable festivals such as Glastonbury and WOMAD. Her discography includes *Arabian Underground*, *Arabtronica*, *Out of Bagdad*, and *Beyond Destruction*. Despite her international success, Aida remains one of Scandinavia's most prominent figures in the fusion music scene. Currently, she is based in Barcelona, Spain, where she continues to evolve her music.
