Entwine is a Finnish gothic metal band that was originally formed in 1997, celebrated for melding melancholic melodies with heavy guitar riffs to create their signature sound. The band's origins can be traced back to the city of Lahti, where guitarist and vocalist Tom Mikkola, drummer Aksu Hanttu, and bassist Taipale teamed up with singer Panu Willman to form a death metal group named 'Kaamos'. However, they quickly shifted their musical direction towards gothic metal and changed their name to Entwine. The addition of keyboardist Riitta Heikkonen and new bassist Joni Miettinen in the early stages of the band added depth to their evolving sound.
Entwine's music is characterized by its atmospheric synth textures, emotive lyrics, and an infusion of both aggressive and somber moods. Through successive releases like "Gone" and "Time of Despair," the band established a firm fanbase in the gothic and alternative metal scenes. Albums like "DiEversity" and "Fatal Design" continued to showcase Entwine’s ability to diversify their sound with each album, blending heavy riffs with increasingly melodic undertones. Their later releases, including "Painstained" and "Chaotic Nation," solidified their status as a mainstay in the genre, displaying both the band’s musical maturity and their consistent appeal to fans of dark, introspective metal. With memorable tracks such as "Chameleon Halo" and "Surrender," Entwine has carved out a notable niche in the world of gothic metal, earning international recognition for their compelling and brooding artistry.
