Peter Calandra is a versatile and prolific New York City-based composer and keyboard player with deep roots in the local music scene. Over his career, he has scored over 100 films and written more than 2,500 compositions for television and film, including major theme packages such as the FIFA World Cup Theme for FOX Sports and the Special Olympics World Games theme for ESPN. Beyond his extensive work in media, Calandra has an impressive Broadway resume, performing as a first-chair keyboard player in productions like Miss Saigon (where he played for 10 years), The Lion King, Les Miserables, and The Phantom of the Opera. His solo albums showcase a wide musical palette spanning world music, jazz, new age, contemporary jazz, pop, and neo-classical styles, marked by lyrical expressiveness and purposeful musicianship.
In addition to his composing and performing, Calandra is an experienced studio engineer and educator, teaching music composition, film scoring, and audio/MIDI at Queens College, CUNY. He has garnered acclaim for scoring award-winning films such as Jellysmoke and Unknown Soldier, both recognized at the Los Angeles Film Festival and nominated for Independent Spirit Awards.
