Rajery

Rajery, hailing from Madagascar, is a virtuoso of the valiha, a traditional bamboo tube zither that is emblematic of Malagasy music. Born Germain Randrianarisoa, this talented musician has overcome personal adversity, having lost his right hand at a young age, to become one of the island's most revered artists. His unique style of playing the valiha with just his left hand has not only placed him at the forefront of the Malagasy music scene but has also garnered him international acclaim.

Over the years, Rajery has been an ambassador for the rich musical traditions of Madagascar. His compositions, which often meld the indigenous sounds of the valiha with contemporary musical influences, speak volumes of his dedication to both preserving and evolving Malagasy music. Notable albums like "Fanamby" and "Volontany" showcase his skill in creating deeply resonant melodies that are both soulful and evocative of the island's diverse cultures. With "3MA," Rajery joined forces with kora player Ballaké Sissoko from Mali and oud player Driss El Maloumi from Morocco, reflecting his interest in cross-cultural collaboration and highlighting the universal language of music. His works such as "Sofera," "Dorotanety," and "Tantsaha" continue to enchant audiences worldwide with their intricate rhythms and his masterful command of the valiha.
