Peter Alexander Jobson is a Northumberland-born musician, composer, and performer, best known for his role as the bassist in the Mancunian band I Am Kloot. With I Am Kloot, he spent nearly two decades contributing to the group's distinctive sound, which blended jazz and dark poetry, earning them a Mercury Music Prize nomination for their album "Sky At Night" in 2010. After the band disbanded in 2016, Jobson transitioned into composing and recording soundtracks for television and film projects. He has also collaborated with artists like Guy Garvey of Elbow. In 2024, Jobson released his debut solo album, "Burn The Ration Books Of Love," which is a poignant and deeply personal record drawing influences from artists such as Scott Walker and Tom Waits, as well as his roots in Northumberland.
Jobson's solo work is heavily autobiographical, reflecting his experiences and geographical roots. His music often incorporates elements of country, blues, and quirky storytelling reminiscent of Northern entertainers like Jake Thackray. Recent releases include singles like "Please Please Please" and "Just ‘Cause I'm Dead." His debut album has been praised for its unique blend of influences and storytelling, marking a new chapter in his career.
