Mañana is a five-piece band from Basel, Switzerland, known for their blend of alternative rock, indie pop, and indie rock. The band consists of Manuel Bürkli on vocals and guitar, Jan Krattiger on guitar, Jenny Jans on piano, Samuel Burri on bass, and Lorenz Hunziker on drums. Formed by Bürkli and Krattiger as an acoustic duo, they expanded their lineup and began performing locally in 2003. Mañana gained international recognition with their song "Miss Evening," featured on the FIFA 2005 soundtrack, which helped establish a dedicated fan base. Their discography includes the "Fast Days EP" and the full-length album "Interruptions," released in 2008. After a hiatus, the band announced their return to touring, including a performance at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival.
Mañana's music style is heavily influenced by British bands like Doves, U2, and The Verve, with a goal to create their own unique sound. Despite being from Switzerland, most of their lyrics are in English. Their recent releases, such as "Interruptions," reflect their evolving musical journey. The band's history includes opening for notable acts like I Am Kloot, Keane, Mew, and A-ha, showcasing their versatility and appeal across different genres.
