SiR, whose real name is Sir Darryl Farris, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer hailing from Inglewood, California. Born on November 5, 1986, he comes from a musical lineage; both his mother and his uncle are recognized gospel singers, and his brothers are songwriters and producers as well. SiR’s entry into the music industry was initially behind the scenes, writing songs for artists such as Ginuwine, Jill Scott, and Anita Baker. He made his artist debut under the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) label, an independent record label that is home to the likes of Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
SiR's sophisticated blend of R&B, soul, and hip-hop grooves has carved a unique niche for him in the music scene. In 2016, he released his 'HER' EP, which put him on the radar as a rising star with a smooth, seductive sound. In the following years, he solidified his artistry with introspective and emotive projects like ‘November’ and ‘Chasing Summer,’ which features the hit “Hair Down” with Kendrick Lamar. With his rich, velvety voice and an ear for lush production, combined with deeply personal and relatable lyrics, SiR's music offers an introspective take on love, life, and the pursuit of happiness. His ability to traverse different moods and styles is evidenced in tracks like "John Redcorn - A COLORS SHOW," which showcases his raw vocal talent, and "Rapper Weed," which has a more laid-back yet vibrant feel. Each release further establishes SiR as a nuanced storyteller and a true connoisseur of contemporary R&B.
