Towner & Town Chief

Towner & Town Chief, better known in Korea as 시인과 촌장 (Poet and Village Chief), are a legendary Korean folk duo. Formed in 1981 by Ha Deok-gyu (the "poet") and Kim Hyung-yong (the "village chief"), they quickly became known for their beautiful harmonies, acoustic guitar-driven melodies, and thoughtful lyrics often reflecting on nature, life, and spirituality. Their music carries a distinctly Korean flavor while also incorporating elements of Western folk and pop. They've released several influential albums, including the critically acclaimed "숲" (Forest), and are considered pioneers of Korean folk-pop.

Though the duo officially disbanded in 1995, they've reunited several times for concerts and new releases, much to the delight of their dedicated fanbase. Their music continues to resonate with listeners across generations, and their impact on the Korean music scene is undeniable. Recent releases like "온스테이지 디깅클럽서울 THEME 05 - 고양이" and their live album "시인과 촌장 라이브(12년만의 만남)" demonstrate their enduring popularity and the timeless quality of their music.
