Rim Banna was a Palestinian singer, composer, and arranger, renowned for her expressive voice and poignant music that often delved deeply into the Palestinian collective psyche. Born on December 8, 1966, in Nazareth, in the Galilee region of northern Israel, Banna was not just a musician but also an activist whose art was interwoven with her cultural and political stance. She graduated from the High Institute of Music in Moscow and was best known for her modern interpretations of traditional Palestinian folk songs, which included poetry and children's lullabies, infused with elements of modern jazz and Arabic music.

Throughout her career, Banna released several notable albums. "The Mirrors of My Soul" (2005), one of her most acclaimed works, incorporated both Middle Eastern and Western influences, while "April Blossoms" (2006) was a heartfelt dedication to the children of Palestine, imbued with a message of hope and resilience against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Her later albums, such as "Revelation of Ecstasy and Rebellion" (2013), captured a more experimental approach, as she courageously navigated through her own struggles with breast cancer, which ultimately led to her passing on March 24, 2018. Rim Banna's music remains a testament to her enduring spirit, her cultural heritage, and her unwavering commitment to peace and justice.
