Timothy Monger

Timothy Monger is a Michigan-based singer-songwriter and musician known for his evocative storytelling and melodic craftsmanship. An important figure in the Midwest indie music scene, Monger co-founded the beloved folk-rock outfit Great Lakes Myth Society in the early 2000s, alongside his brother James. After the group went on hiatus, he followed his muse into a solo career that allowed him to dig deeper into his rich palette of folk, rock, and power pop.

His solo debut, "Summer Cherry Ghosts," released in 2004, is an album steeped in the seasonal landscapes of the Great Lakes region and introduced Monger as a solo artist with a keen eye for detail and a knack for capturing the poignancy of the everyday. Since then, Timothy Monger has continued to refine his sound through a series of well-received releases, like the introspective "The New Britton Sound," and the lush, textured "Amber Lantern." His songs often explore themes of nature, memory, and the passage of time, intersecting personal narratives with the geography of his home state. With his musical journey embodying a blend of imagery-laden lyricism and inventive melodic sensibilities, Monger has solidified his position as a distinctive voice in contemporary folk and indie music.
