**Nucleus** is a British jazz-fusion band formed by the renowned Scottish musician Ian Carr in 1969. In 1970, Nucleus won first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival and released their debut album, *Elastic Rock*, followed by other notable albums such as *We'll Talk About It Later*, *Solar Plexus*, *Labyrinth*, *Roots*, *Under the Sun*, *Snakehips Etcetera*, and *Alleycat*. These albums are considered vital in any comprehensive jazz-rock collection. Nucleus continued in various forms until 1989 and has been celebrated for its groundbreaking contributions to the jazz-fusion genre.
