The Futureheads are an English post-punk band hailing from Sunderland, formed in the year 2000. They quickly carved out a niche for themselves with their distinctive blend of frenetic guitar work, rich vocal harmonies, and sharply angular rhythms, owing much to the soundscape of their post-punk predecessors. The band consists of Ross Millard (guitar, vocals), Barry Hyde (vocals, guitar), David "Jaff" Craig (bass guitar, vocals), and Dave Hyde (drums, vocals). They burst onto the British music scene with their self-titled debut album 'The Futureheads' in 2004, featuring a cover of Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" which went on to become a significant hit and a defining track for the group.
Over the years, The Futureheads maintained a strong presence in the UK indie rock scene, releasing albums that showcased their ability to evolve while staying true to their energetic and intricate style. Albums such as 'News and Tributes' and 'This Is Not the World' solidified their reputation for catchy, tightly wound songs that are at once cerebral and accessible. Despite a brief hiatus, they returned with 'Rant' in 2012, an a cappella album that highlighted their vocal prowess and versatility. Their latest work, including 'Powers' and the single "Jekyll," confirms that The Futureheads continue to be a force in modern British rock, adept at melding post-punk traditions with contemporary sensibilities.
