Sayuri Kokusho is a Japanese singer and actress who rose to fame in the mid-80s as a member of the Onyanko Club, a massively popular idol group known for its rotating lineup and TV show. Her sweet, girl-next-door image and catchy pop tunes quickly made her a fan favorite, and she launched a successful solo career shortly after graduating from the group. She's probably best known for her mega-hit single "Valentine Kiss," which has become something of a Valentine's Day anthem in Japan and gets re-released pretty regularly.
Beyond music, Kokusho has also made a name for herself in television and film, appearing in various dramas and movies throughout her career. She's remained a recognizable face in Japanese entertainment, continuing to perform and act while also occasionally popping up on variety shows. She's a true 80s icon who's still going strong!
