Sandro Gorli is a renowned Italian composer, conductor, and teacher born on June 19, 1948, in Como, Italy. Initially, he pursued architecture but eventually shifted his focus to music, studying composition with the esteemed Franco Donatoni. Gorli has had a distinguished career, serving as the principal conductor of the ELISION Ensemble in Melbourne from 1990 to 1998. He is known for his diverse compositions, including a "Requiem" for mixed choir a cappella, commissioned by La Chapelle Royale, and works like "Me – Ti" for the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. Gorli has also conducted various orchestras, including the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi.

Gorli's compositional style spans a wide range of genres, from classical to modernism. He has received commissions from prominent institutions such as the French Ministry of Culture and the Italian Foreign Ministry. His work includes operas like "Solo" and "Le mal de lune," and he has been recognized with awards, including the European Award in 1985 for "Solo." Throughout his career, Gorli has demonstrated a commitment to promoting contemporary music through his ensemble "Divertimento," which he founded in 1977.
