Shuteen Erdenebaatar

Shuteen Erdenebaatar is a Mongolian-born pianist and composer known for blending classical training with jazz and contemporary music to create a unique and expressive sound. Raised in Ulaanbaatar in a family deeply rooted in the arts, she began studying classical piano and composition at an early age. After earning her bachelor's degree in classical composition by 20, she expanded her horizons in Munich with a double master's program in jazz piano and composition, where she developed her distinct voice. At 25, Shuteen has already received numerous prestigious awards, including the German Jazz Award (2024), the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award, and Mongolia’s highest cultural honor "Mungun Mod" for jazz.

Her debut album "Rising Sun" (2023) introduced her as a major new talent on the jazz world stage, leading a talented quartet and showcasing her compositional depth and vibrant playing. Shuteen also collaborates closely with German bassist and clarinetist Nils Kugelmann in a duo setting, with their album "Under the Same Stars" released in 2025 to critical acclaim for its intimate, evocative interplay featuring piano and contrabass clarinet. This partnership, forged through years of collaboration, highlights her adventurous, genre-crossing musical storytelling, blending jazz, classical, and chamber music elements in fresh ways.
