Di Wu

Di Wu is a Chinese-American classical pianist known for her dynamic performances and technical brilliance. Born in Shanghai, she began piano studies at age 5 and later trained at the Curtis Institute of Music and Juilliard School. She gained international recognition through multiple appearances at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, notably reaching the semifinals in 2009 – an achievement documented in her live recordings from the event’s preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds.

Since her competition successes, Wu has built a vibrant career performing with major orchestras like the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, while also championing contemporary composers. Her playing style merges fiery precision with poetic sensitivity, whether she’s interpreting Beethoven or exploring modern works.
