Heathen

Heathen is a pioneering American thrash metal band hailing from the Bay Area, California, recognized for their technical musical prowess and captivating metal compositions. Formed in 1984 by guitarist Lee Altus and drummer Carl Sacco, Heathen quickly made a name for themselves in the metal scene with their intricate riffs, soaring melodic vocal lines, and complex song structures. Their debut album, "Breaking the Silence," released in 1987, contained the hit single "Set Me Free" and put them on the map as one of thrash metal’s most promising acts.

Following a period of lineup changes and industry challenges, Heathen solidified their status in the metal community with their second album, "Victims of Deception," in 1991. This record is often lauded as a thrash classic, showing even greater complexity and musicianship. Unfortunately, the band went on a hiatus in the mid-1990s but returned with a vengeance in the new millennium. "The Evolution Of Chaos," originally released in 2010 and later celebrated with a 10th Anniversary Edition, demonstrated Heathen's unwavering dedication to their craft. Their latest studio effort, "Empire of the Blind" (2020), received critical acclaim and saw the band continuing to evolve while retaining the signature thrash metal sound that has earned them a loyal fanbase. With a series of reissues and demo collections like "Pray for Death (The Complete Demo Collection)" augmenting their discography, Heathen remains a respected and influential force in the metal genre.
