Stefano Sabene

Stefano Sabene is an Italian conductor, composer, and flutist who specializes in both Early and Contemporary music. Based in Rome, he is the founder and artistic director of the Schola Romana Ensemble, focusing on historically informed performances and innovative projects that merge electroacoustic music with contemporary art. Sabene has won the International Prize "Foyer des artists" for orchestra conducting and has worked with notable soloists and composers, contributing to first performances of new works. Beyond conducting and performing, he is active as an author, editor, and producer of audio-visual materials and leads artistic festivals like Roma Opera Omnia and Spiritualia, dedicated to sacred and classical music.

His work also includes creative sound installations, such as the "Traverse consort" project, which expands traditional concert experiences through spatial and temporal dimensions, combining Renaissance transverse flute performance with high-fidelity audio technologies. Sabene’s musical scope embraces composers from Hildegard von Bingen and Palestrina to contemporary figures like Arvo Pärt and Luigi Esposito, showcasing his versatility across historical periods and styles.
