Innerwoud is a one-man band led by Belgian double bass player and composer Pieter-Jan Van Assche. After playing in various bands spanning genres from folk to neoclassical, Van Assche began focusing on solo performances, utilizing the double bass to create a unique sound experience. His music often blends ambient, drone, and neoclassical elements, crafting a melancholic atmosphere through layered bass drones. This results in a captivating journey, evoking both wide-open landscapes and mysterious darkness, punctuated by subtle melodies.
Innerwoud has released several notable albums, including solo works like "Mirre" (2015) and "Furie" (2022), as well as collaborations like "Grashelm" with Treha Sektori (2017) and "Haven" with Astrid Stockman (2018). He has also contributed to dance performances and is part of the contemporary opera "Dance of the Seven Veils." Innerwoud's music is characterized by its ability to span genres and captivate audiences with its haunting soundscapes.
