Anneliese Rothenberger

Anneliese Rothenberger was a German soprano known for her beautiful voice and charismatic stage presence. Born in Mannheim, Germany, in 1924, she began her career as a concert singer before making her operatic debut in 1943. Rothenberger went on to perform in major opera houses around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera House in London. She was particularly renowned for her interpretations of Mozart and Strauss roles, and her recordings of these works remain highly regarded today. Rothenberger also had a successful career as a lieder singer, and she was known for her warm, expressive voice and her ability to communicate the emotional depth of the texts she sang. She died in 2010 at the age of 86.
