Pattern-Seeking Animals is an American prog-rock project that emerged as a talented quartet brimming with creativity and experience in the domain of progressive rock music. Created by long-time collaborators and members of the band Spock's Beard, the group was formed by John Boegehold, a producer and contributing songwriter for Spock's Beard, who sought to forge a new outlet for his musical expressions. Joining Boegehold were Spock's Beard alumni Ted Leonard on vocals and guitar, Dave Meros on bass, and Jimmy Keegan on drums - each an accomplished musician with a rich history in the genre.
Pattern-Seeking Animals made a significant splash in the prog-rock scene with their eponymous debut album released in 2019, followed by the ambitious and expansive "Prehensile Tales" in 2020. Their music is characterized by complex arrangements, emotional depth, and gripping storytelling, which can be heard in tracks like "Spooky Action at a Distance" and "Raining Hard in Heaven." They have quickly carved out a niche for themselves, striking a chord with fans of richly textured, melodic progressive rock that draws on both classic inspiration and modern flair. Each release, including their most recent, "Only Passing Through (Bonus Track Edition)" and "Somewhere North of Nowhere," showcases the band's growth and continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of their craft.
