Oranssi Pazuzu

Oranssi Pazuzu is a Finnish band that has challenged the boundaries of black metal and psychedelic rock since its inception in 2007. Named after the Assyrian-Babylonian god of the wind, Pazuzu, and the Finnish word for orange, the group crafts a soundscape that is both hauntingly cosmic and deeply rooted in earthly turmoil. Their music combines the raw energy of black metal with the expansive nature of psychedelia, creating a genre almost entirely of their own—a turbulent mix of hypnotic rhythms, dissonant guitar riffs, and otherworldly atmospheric synths.

With their debut album "Muukalainen Puhuu" (2009), Oranssi Pazuzu introduced listeners to their distinctive blend of musical influences. The band continued to explore and refine their sonic identity with subsequent releases such as "Kosmonument" (2011), "Valonielu" (2013), and the critically acclaimed "Värähtelijä" (2016), which solidified their place in the avant-garde metal scene. Their latest full-length effort, "Mestarin kynsi" (2020), pushes their creative boundaries even further, as the band delves into themes of control and manipulation with an even more experimental approach to composition and sound. Oranssi Pazuzu's live performances, such as those captured on "Live at Roadburn 2017," are known for their mesmerizing intensity, offering audiences an immersive journey through the band's dark yet transcendental universe.
