Konstantinos Destounis is a distinguished Greek pianist born in Athens in 1991, celebrated as one of the most prominent artists of his generation in Greece. He has an impressive academic background, having studied at the Hellenic Conservatory in Athens, the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and earning a Doctor of Music degree from the Royal College of Music in London, where he also taught for some time. Destounis has won numerous international piano competitions, including the Grand Prix Maria Callas in Athens, the Southern Highlands in Canberra, and the Bremen European Piano Competition, and represented Greece at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in Vienna. Currently, he is a Piano Professor at the Ionian University in Corfu and teaches at the Athens Conservatoire and the University of Macedonia. His performance career spans prestigious venues worldwide, and he has played as a soloist with orchestras across Europe, Australia, and beyond.
Destounis is particularly noted for his interpretations of Maurice Ravel’s piano works, culminating in a highly praised 2025 recording of the composer’s complete piano music with Brilliant Classics, which showcases his technical finesse and sensitive musicianship. His discography also includes complete piano works by composers such as Theodore Antoniou and Naresh Sohal. Beyond performance, Destounis is an active scholar and recording artist, contributing to the promotion of Greek contemporary repertoire and classical music.
