Takako Minekawa

Takako Minekawa is a Japanese musician, singer, and writer known for her playful, experimental approach to pop and electronic music. Emerging in the 1990s, she developed a distinctive sound that blends elements of Shibuya-kei, synth-pop, and ambient music, often incorporating vintage synthesizers, quirky rhythms, and whimsical vocals. Her 1996 album Roomic Cube: A Tiny Room Exhibition brought her international attention, showcasing her talent for crafting imaginative, atmospheric tracks with a retro-futuristic charm.

Over the years, Minekawa has collaborated with a range of eclectic artists, including Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada) and, more recently, Dustin Wong, with whom she’s created several critically acclaimed albums such as Savage Imagination and Are Euphoria. After a period of relative quiet in the 2000s, she made a creative resurgence in the 2010s, continuing to push the boundaries of electronic music with her unique sonic visions.
