Tom Harrell is a Grammy-nominated jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, and composer. Born in Urbana, Illinois, in 1946, Harrell began playing the trumpet at age 13. He studied at Stanford University and the Berklee College of Music before moving to New York City in 1970. Harrell has performed and recorded with a wide range of jazz musicians, including Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, and Charlie Haden. He has also released over 30 albums as a leader, including "Alternate Summer" (2022), "Miramar" (2020), and "Oak Tree" (2018). Harrell's music is known for its lyrical melodies, harmonic sophistication, and improvisational brilliance.
