The **Scandinavian Art Ensemble** is a cross-border collective of musicians from Scandinavia and Poland. The group emerged from a collaboration at the Danish jazz workshop "Summer Session" in 2015, brought together by a shared interest and opportunity to create music together with the legendary Polish trumpet player Tomasz Stańko. The ensemble includes musicians such as Johanna Elina Sulkunen on vocals, Thomas Hass on tenor sax, Stian Victor Lervik Swensson on guitar, Snorri Sigurðarson and Tomasz Dąbrowski on trumpet, Artur Tuźnik on piano, Martin Fabricius on vibraphone, Richard Andersson on double bass, and Radek Wośko on drums.
Their music is deeply expressive, capturing the spirit of Tomasz Stańko with a focus on individualism and improvisation. The ensemble's first release, *The Copenhagen Sessions Vol. 1*, is part of a series of albums set to be released on April Records, marking a collaboration that was delayed due to Stańko's passing in 2018. Recent releases include *Before the Rain* and *Circles*, all demonstrating their unique blend of jazz with a melancholic depth influenced by Polish jazz traditions. The ensemble's performances are tributes to Stańko's legacy, preserving his generosity and curiosity through their music.
