**Tenebro** is an **Italian horror death metal band** formed in the early 2000s by Il Becchino, with Il Beccamorto joining officially on bass and drum programming. The duo's sound is deliberately primitive and crude, drawing heavy inspiration from classic Italian horror films of the 1970s and 80s—particularly the work of directors like Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci. What makes Tenebro unique is how they translate that visceral, blood-soaked aesthetic directly into their music: choppy riffs, guttural vocals, and deliberately sloppy production that captures the chaotic brutality of the films they worship.
After years of inactivity, the band returned with their demo in 2019 and released the EP "Liberaci Dal Male" in 2020/2021, followed by their debut full-length "L'inizio di un Incubo" in 2022. Their sound is unpolished and unpredictable—fans of old-school death metal bands like Mortician will find plenty to love in their lo-fi approach to horror metal. More recently, the band has continued pushing their sound to increasingly extreme and visionary territory, with their latest work paying direct homage to the giallo horror universe of Dario Argento himself.
