Desperate Journalist

Desperate Journalist are a London-based post-punk quartet who’ve been sharpening their brooding, melodic sound since forming in 2013. Fronted by Jo Bevan’s commanding Siouxsie Sioux-esque vocals, the band – completed by guitarist Rob Hardy, bassist Simon Drowner, and drummer Caz Hellbent – channels the urgency of '80s icons like The Smiths and Joy Division while carving out their own introspective, guitar-driven identity. Their catalog, including punchy recent releases like *Maximum Sorrow!* (2021) and standalone singles like *You Say You’re Lonely* or *No Hero*, balances wiry post-punk energy with lyrics exploring anxiety, relationships, and self-discovery.
