Lukas Simonis is a Dutch experimental musician, composer, and sonic explorer who’s been a restless force in the underground music scene since the 1980s. Based in Rotterdam, he’s known for his genre-defying work that straddles improvisation, noise, electronic experimentation, and avant-garde rock. A multi-instrumentalist (guitar, electronics, and more), he’s been involved in projects like Dull Schicksal, The Ex, and the absurdist punk-jazz group The Available Space, while collaborating with artists like Anne La Berge and Nicolas Collins. Simonis also co-founded the influential experimental label Korm Plastics, cementing his role as a curator of boundary-pushing sounds. His recent releases—like the glitchy textures of *Soothe* or the playful chaos of *Stots*—showcase his knack for merging abstract electronics with unexpected melodic twists, always keeping listeners delightfully off-balance. Whether through collaborative improvisations or solo work, Simonis remains a shapeshifting artist who treats music like a laboratory for weird, wonderful ideas.
